I’m So Glad You’re Here

HI, I’M MEGAN

You’ll likely find me with a cup of coffee in my hand. You will probably meet my co-counselors, Luna & Freyja, at some point. (HIPAA is still in tact, they’re just cats). My crazy dog, River, is in the room next door. You might hear him occasionally, but he’s too hyper to join in. I also love meeting your emotional support animals - that’s one of my favorite benefits of Telehealth.

Sometimes I wear gym clothes to session - because I believe working out is an important part of taking care of ourselves, and sometimes I have to run out the door to get myself there.

I show up to session as the most authentic version of myself. Because you deserve that. I do my best therapist work when I’m able to be true to who I am. I’m fully human - who makes mistakes and goes through shit, and has to process and do the work - just like you. I’m a therapist in therapy and I believe it is crucial for you have a space that you feel free to be (or find) your authentic self, too.

Through a collaborative and ever-evolving client-centered relationship, I strive to help clients transition through many seasons of life - whether its feeling like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, becoming a new parent, feeling unmotivated and bored with the status quo, dealing with negative consequences, struggling with past trauma, or simply looking to be a better version of yourself. I believe that curiosity and compassion have the power to change our world, and you’ll see that integrated in my style of therapy. We will spend time learning, regulating, and connecting our emotions to FEEL. DEAL. and HEAL. In addition to traditional talk-therapy, we will explore different healing approaches that are specific to your needs. We will explore your goals and challenge your thoughts, while also using humor and somatic practices throughout our time together. While it doesn’t always feel good, I will work with you to explore the root cause of what’s going on and also provide you with education because I believe it’s important for you to understand why this is something worth changing.

MY FOCUS

Hey There.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

While this is not what I believe is the most important part of therapy, I know it’s important for people to know what education and training their therapist has. I want to be clear that even though I have spent a lot of time in the books (because I’m truly passionate about this stuff), it doesn’t automatically make me the expert in your life. That role is taken by the best person for the job… you.

Since I know it’s important to a lot of people to have access to this information, I’ll lay it out here for you.

  • I have over 10 years of experience in the field, completing both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Social Work.

  • I am a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

  • I have specialized training working with those who are sober-curious, struggling with substances, in active addiction, family members of someone struggling in addiction, newly sober living, and long-term recovery.

  • I worked for DSS in foster care reunification, and continued to volunteer as a Guardian Ad Litem.

  • I worked for a DWI agency, helping those recover from receiving a DWI.

  • I have facilitated an SAIOP (Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient) group.

  • I have done extensive training in Emotional Freedom Tapping and DBT.
